The Geely E5 Apex Plus is the latest addition to Geely’s electric vehicle line‑up in South Africa.

What is it?

Positioned above the Aspire and Apex derivatives, it combines modern SUV proportions with aerodynamic styling and a premium presence. At 4 615mm long, 1 901mm wide and 1 670mm high, with a wheelbase of 2 750mm, it offers generous cabin space and a luggage capacity of 461litres. The Apex Plus is designed to provide everyday practicality while introducing South African drivers to a more advanced form of electric mobility.

Powertrain:

The Apex Plus uses a front‑mounted electric motor producing 160kW and 320Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 175km/h. It is fitted with a 68.39kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, larger than the Apex model’s 60.22 kWh unit. The result is a WLTP range of 450km compared with the Apex’s 410km. Charging options include AC charging up to 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 100kW, with 30 to 80 percent charge achievable in about 20 minutes.

Interior:

Inside, the Apex Plus offers a technology‑focused cabin with a 15.4‑inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.2‑inch digital driver display, wireless smartphone charging and voice control. Leather‑appointed seating, power‑adjustable front seats and a panoramic sunroof add to the premium feel. Both the Apex and Apex Plus share this interior specification, but the Plus distinguishes itself with its larger battery and extended driving range, making it more suitable for longer journeys.

Price and warranty:

The E5 Aspire is priced from R699 999, the Apex from R759 999 and the Apex Plus from R788 888. Ownership is supported by Geely Care+, which provides a six‑year or 150 000km vehicle warranty, a six‑year or 120 000km service plan, an eight‑year or 200 000km battery warranty and five years of unlimited roadside assistance. Buyers also receive a wall box charger, an emergency charging cable and a R12 000 charging voucher when financed through Geely Finance.
