Volkswagen recently hosted its annual Grand Prix Awards online and recognised the best performing dealers in its South African network.

The VW Grand Prix Awards were held on Thursday 11 June 2020, and several dealers in the Western Cape won awards, including:

  • McCarthy Volkswagen Parow (dealer principal Geo Nel)
  • Barons Bellville (DP Fagrie Essa)
  • Barons N1 City (DP Nigel Powis)
  • Barons Cape Town (DP Kevin Pillay)
  • Volkswagen Table View (DP Paul Louw)

“We won this prestigious award for the eighth time!” says McCarthy Volkswagen Parow’s Geo Nel.

“The criteria for these awards include customer service, sales and service, and dealers are judged on each of these.”

Apart from McCarthy Volkswagen Parow being named as one of the five winners in the Western Cape in the category Club of Excellence Awards as Dealers of the Year, two of its managers were singled out as Golden Circle Award winners.

“André Kramer won the award as New Car Manager, while Ferdi Mouton was awarded the prize as Service Manager,” boasts Nel.

This year’s awards were streamed to all 109 Volkswagen dealers in an effort to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

“Over 50 000 vehicle sales were channelled through the Volkswagen Dealer Network last year,” says Mike Glendinning, Volkswagen Group South Africa’s Sales and Marketing Director. “Our dealers played an important role in helping the Volkswagen Passenger Car brand to achieve its highest market share since 1996. Even during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic with its social distancing guidelines, we found an innovative way to recognise their achievements.”
