Lexus upgrades LC500 flagship

Considered a left-field option, the Lexus LC 500 certainly is a striking contender in the GT class. This flagship V8 has received minor tweaks and extra colour options for the 2020 model year.

Coupe 47

The new Blazing Carnelian exterior colour with a Manhattan Orange interior is one of the eye-catching changes to the range. This is based on the famous Manhattan Henge – a natural light effect that occurs twice a year when the setting sun aligns perfectly with the New York district’s famous grid pattern of streets. Used for the headlining, door panels and seat upholstery accents, it is certainly unique.

Another new colour for this model is Terrane Khaki (first seen on the UX), which offers a strong contrast between bright highlights and dark, calm shades. These colours join a Lexus palette of 30 different shades featured across its model ranges.

Under the skin, the LC’s Adaptive Variable Suspension system control was enhanced resulting in a smoother and more linear response. The LC now also boasts Active Cornering Assist improving the handling on winding roads and through corners. Even the brake pedal surface shape has been changed to improve the operation feeling.

Lexus has introduced an improved Variable Gear Ratio Steering and Dynamic Rear Steering, both of which enhance vehicle stability at high speeds. The Electric Power Steering control was changed for improved steering feel.

Inside is a new 17MM+ high resolution audio system, which includes the standard USB Audio, DAB phase driver, Miracast, Smartphone linking, as well as Apple Car Play® and Android Auto.

Under the hood, you will still find the jewel of a V8 powertrain with 351 kW (540 Nm) and a 10-speed automatic transmission wat could see the LC 500 get to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.

The LC 500 retails for R 2 031 200 with a 7-year/105 000km Warranty and Full Maintenance Plan.

Competitors include the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé, BMW 8 Series Coupé, Jaguar F-Type R and the Porsche 911.
