Mazda Southern Africa has announced the arrival of all‑new Mazda CX‑5, available for pre‑order during July and August, with first deliveries expected from September. The latest generation introduces updated design, technology, safety and performance, while continuing the CX‑5’s role as one of Mazda’s most important global SUVs.
What is it?
The CX‑5 is a mid‑size SUV positioned in the competitive family SUV segment. It builds on Mazda’s Jinba‑Ittai philosophy, aiming to create a closer connection between driver and vehicle. The new model introduces enhanced safety, connectivity and practicality, while retaining the versatility that has defined the CX‑5 since its global debut.
Exterior:
The exterior design reflects Mazda’s current styling language, with sculpted proportions and refined detailing. A new Navy Blue Mica colour makes its global debut, offering different visual character depending on light conditions. The SUV features roof rails, a panoramic roof and carefully managed aerodynamics, reducing drag compared with the previous generation. Enhanced vibration resistance in the door mirrors and sound‑absorbing materials contribute to a quieter, more composed drive, says Mazda.
Interior:
Inside, the cabin has been reworked with a driver‑centric layout. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a full digital LCD instrument cluster and driver personalisation features are standard. At the top of the range, the Homura derivative introduces a 15.5‑inch centre display and electrostatic steering controls.
Premium tan leather trim, ambient lighting and improved passenger space add to the interior changes. Practicality has been improved with a larger luggage compartment, offering 964 litres with the rear seats folded, a flat cargo floor and a lower loading height.
Powertrain:
The CX‑5 is powered by a 2.5‑litre petrol engine producing 132kW and 240Nm. The engine is paired with a transmission designed to deliver smooth acceleration and confident handling. Aerodynamic refinements reduce drag by 5% compared with the previous model, while suspension development balances stability with ride comfort.
Prices and warranty:
Mazda Southern Africa has not yet confirmed final retail pricing for the new CX‑5. Fuel consumption and emissions figures will also be announced closer to launch. All models will be supported by MazdaCare, which includes a five‑year unlimited‑kilometre service plan, a five‑year unlimited‑kilometre factory warranty and five years of roadside assistance. Eligible owners with an active service plan and warranty will also benefit from Mazda’s Courtesy Service Programme, providing same‑day access to a courtesy vehicle when booking a service, subject to dealer availability.
