The end of the road for Jaguar as we know the brand does not mean the end of this iconic British nameplate.
Dealerfloor recently reported on the new direction Jaguar is taking with its Type 01, still a prototype, as the famous roaring cat prepares for an electric future.
Production of the XE, XF, F-TYPE, I-PACE, E-PACE and F-PACE has all ended, according to a spokesperson for JLR South Africa.
Production of traditional Jaguar models ended in phases. Manufacturing of sports and executive models such as the XE, XF and F-TYPE ceased in mid-2024, followed by the E-PACE and I-PACE in December 2024. The final internal combustion powered Jaguar, the F-PACE, officially ended production on 19 December 2025.
“Part of our strategic planning was a ‘managed sunset’ of the current products before the launch of the new brand. We wanted a ‘break’, therefore in many of our markets we have now ceased selling before we transition to the start of sales for the new Jaguar,” the spokesperson told Dealerfloor.
“We are taking Jaguar back to where it was when it was at its best. That means a much more focused portfolio and lower volumes. A complete reset. The four door GT will be positioned in the luxury segment, a place where Jaguar operated successfully in the past. The global reveal of the car will take place later this year.”
“Our plans to reinvent Jaguar as an electric only luxury automotive brand are unchanged. Recently, prototype passenger rides received overwhelmingly positive reactions from global media, and we are looking forward to unveiling the first new electric Jaguar later this year,” the spokesperson said.
On the question of parts availability and servicing, the spokesperson said nothing has changed.
“Jaguar retailer partners and our service network remain fully operational and will continue to deliver unparalleled levels of customer care to our current Jaguar clients, including servicing, repairs, replacement parts, warranty claims and software updates.”
Dealerships Dealerfloor spoke to say the used market for Jaguars is performing very well and that parts supply and servicing continue uninterrupted.
That the unique roar of Jaguar’s famous six and eight cylinder powertrains will be missed is a given, but for Jaguar enthusiasts, a new chapter now awaits.
