At the heart of the initiative is the SmartOps Fleet-Vodacom South Africa e-Hailing Car Investor Programme, which aims to make vehicle ownership more accessible while building a more sustainable and efficient mobility ecosystem. The programme intends to introduce up to 55 000 vehicles over the next 9 to 12 months, creating potential opportunities for as many as 110 000 drivers. Notably, around 66% of the planned fleet will comprise electric vehicles, supporting the country's gradual transition towards cleaner transport solutions.
For TiAuto Investments, the company behind Tiger Wheel & Tyre and Tyres & More, the programme aligns with its longstanding focus on road safety, vehicle reliability and accessible mobility, it states.
As part of the collaboration, TiAuto is working with SmartOps Fleet to develop a tyre management solution designed specifically for fleet operators. Rather than facing unpredictable tyre replacement costs, operators would benefit from a fixed monthly subscription that includes an agreed allocation of tyres and related services throughout a vehicle's lease period.
The approach is intended to improve budgeting, simplify fleet management and reduce one of the most significant operating expenses faced by vehicle owners and operators.
