JAC Motors South Africa has strengthened its long-standing partnership with Christian Aid Relief (CARE) by donating two trucks to support the organisation’s humanitarian work.
The vehicles – an X200 EV 1.9‑tonne and an N140 9‑tonne – will expand CARE’s logistics capacity as it delivers food and essential supplies to vulnerable communities across South Africa.
CARE operates a food‑processing facility in Roodepoort, producing more than 500,000 meals each month for schools and communities facing food insecurity. The battery‑electric X200 EV is suited to urban deliveries, cutting fuel costs and emissions.
Within its first month of operation, the vehicle saved CARE over R10 000 in fuel, allowing more resources to be directed towards feeding people in need. The N140 truck has already had a measurable impact, enabling the transport of an additional 30 tonnes of food within ten days of delivery.
Karl‑Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa, says the partnership reflects a shared commitment to uplifting communities and building a sustainable future. CARE’s CEO, Frank Weitsz, emphasised that the donation represents more than just vehicles, describing it as an investment in efficiency and reach. “The impact of the N140 9‑tonne was immediate. Within 10 days of delivery, it enabled us to transport an additional 30 tonnes of food to communities in urgent need,” he notes.
Reliable transport is vital for humanitarian organisations working in regions where poor roads and damaged infrastructure make access difficult. The addition of these trucks strengthens CARE’s ability to reach remote communities and respond quickly to emergencies. Monthly cash donations from JAC Motors and its dealer network further support CARE’s operations, ensuring the organisation can continue meeting growing social needs.
As JAC Motors approaches its tenth year in South Africa, the company continues to invest in initiatives that deliver social impact. With millions of South Africans facing hunger daily, the partnership highlights how sustainable mobility solutions can play a role in addressing pressing humanitarian challenges, it states.
