Leapmotor has added the B10 Hybrid EV to its South African line-up, expanding its offering beyond the C10 Hybrid EV. Orders opened on 18 August 2026, with the new compact SUV designed to combine electric-first driving with long-distance capability.
What is it?
The B10 Hybrid EV is a new model built on the LEAP 3.5 platform. It uses Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology, where the wheels are powered only by the electric motor. A 1.5-litre petrol engine acts solely as a generator, producing electricity when required. This makes the B10 distinct from conventional hybrids, offering the driving feel of a pure electric vehicle while extending range for longer journeys.
Exterior:
The B10 is offered in a single Design trim level with five exterior colours and two interior themes. The launch colour, Starry Night Blue, is inspired by Van Gogh’s painting The Starry Night. Compact dimensions give it a practical footprint, while contemporary styling ensures it fits into the modern SUV segment, claims the manufacturer.

Interior:
Inside, the B10 features a 14.6-inch 2.5K HD central-touchscreen and a modern digital interface. Connectivity includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and integration with the Leapmotor App, which allows remote vehicle management, charging scheduling and over-the-air updates. Comfort equipment includes a spacious cabin with configurable options, while safety is supported by seven airbags and 17 driver assistance systems.

Powertrain:
The B10 is powered by a 158-kW electric motor. An 18.8 kWh battery provides up to 86 km of pure electric range, while the petrol generator extends total range to 900 km. Combined fuel consumption is claimed at 0.9 L/100 km. The electric motor delivers instant torque, ensuring responsive performance.
Price and warranty:
The B10 Hybrid EV is available in Style and Design derivatives priced at R499 900 and R549 900. All models are sold with a five-year/100 000 km warranty and service plan.
