MasterDrive, in association with the South African Bus Operators Association, announced that the SABOA Fleet Safety Awards will be taking place this year.
Those operating bus fleets can enter either their organisations, fleet managers or operators for their dedication to promoting road safety. The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, expands: “The Awards are an opportunity to reward organisations for their efforts to change the high road crash and fatality rates while also serving as an example for others to emulate.”
MasterDrive encourages those involved in the industry to enter the SABOA Fleet Safety Awards and demonstrate their commitment to promoting road safety. “There are three categories that each individual involved in the promotion of fleet safety within an organisation can enter. Whether you are the owner of the organisation, the fleet manager responsible for the bus operators’ safety or the bus operator, there is an Awards’ category that suits the role you play,” he says.
The Best Fleet Manager category is the top award with a significant cash prize. “It recognises fleet managers dedicated to implementing the safety procedures and policies of their organisation and going above-and-beyond to create a team of bus operators committed to road safety that is equipped with the tools to make this possible.
“This Award illustrates the length one goes to, to create a team of drivers where road safety is a major part of their ethos owing to the support received from their fleet manager. It brings attention to the importance this individual plays in their organisation,” says Eugene.
The category for Best Organisation is for organisations that embody road safety. “These companies exemplify this as a whole by implementing several procedures, policies and other initiatives to ensure road safety is upheld within the organisation. This Award is a demonstration of a company that personifies dedication to road safety.”
The Road Warrior category will be for the best operator that shows exceptional commitment to road safety. “A bus operator is the embodiment of people who do much of their work while on, or in between, their travels. To enter this category, entrants must display their dedication to being a safe driver and illustrate the role they play in creating safer roads. The Road Warrior Award serves to motivate other individuals who spend time behind the wheel to do their part in promoting road safety,” according to him.
