Shaping how vehicles are distributed and sold - that’s the responsibility of Maritza Kichenbrand - Dealer Network & Channel Development Manager at Jetour South Africa.
Maritza, who has been in the automotive industry for over 20 years, demonstrated a natural aptitude for car sales quite by chance, while filling in as a receptionist for a friend at a car dealership in 2004. Far from greeting customers and directing calls, she ended up selling six vehicles and so began her career in automotive sales.
With several sales awards under her belt, Maritza quickly rose from Sales Representative to National Sales Manager at South Africa's largest online automotive auction marketplace, where she played a key role in driving business growth and sales success. “I love building relationships with customers and dealers, as well as making delivery experiences special,” Maritza says.
Since starting at Jetour last year, Maritza says that every moment with this exciting new brand has been incredible. “I've learned so much from our Chinese colleagues, built relationships with partners and seen the brand's growth. I'm proud to be a part of the Jetour team,” she says.
While carving out her place in a predominantly male field, Maritza did face some underestimation and scepticism but proved that commitment and dedication can lead to growth and success.
She adds that building relationships and inspiring other females to work hard and persevere have been the most rewarding part of her career to date. “Many females have paved the way, and I'm proud to be part of this journey.” Guided by her motto, "Do whatever it takes", she believes that with determination and hard work, any goal can be achieved.
Establishing a strong dealer network is crucial in order to create great customer experiences, brand awareness and increasing sales. As manager of Jetour’s dealer network, Maritza says that Jetour values its dealer partnerships and is committed to growing alongside them through shared success and collaboration.
Prior to launching in South Africa, Jetour carefully selected a network of over 40 dealerships based on their proven business success and strategic locations. While several other factors were considered, the strength of their people, their track record and location continue to be the core criteria in the selection process.
South Africa's premium automotive sector has experienced unprecedented consolidation over the last two years, with multiple luxury brands restructuring their dealership networks in response to declining sales, economic pressures, and shifting consumer preferences.
Almost every dealership has them – listings that sit quietly in the background, gathering cobwebs. Despite looking good on paper, some used vehicles attract minimal buyer attention and quietly chip away potential revenue. But what if those slow movers weren’t dead ends, but missed opportunities waiting for the right tweak?
A renewed focus on customer care and the well-being of the employees, is high on the agenda of Jaco du Preez, newly appointed General Manager at Waterberg Toyota in Limpopo.
