Three new models added to Jeep Grand Cherokee range

The first production model of the Jeep Grand Cherokee passed through the doors of Cobo Hall in Detroit in 1992. Jeep is now introducing the 5-seater Grand Cherokee in South Africa alongside the Grand Cherokee L, which is Jeep’s ultra luxurious 7-seater.

What’s new?

Design:

The new Grand Cherokee has a slimmer, sculped exterior with a lowered, tapered roof.

The Jeep also boasts long-range radar technology, which is well concealed in its wider, seven-slot grille. The new front fascia is much bolder and aggressive with an elongated, level-set bonnet.

Stepping inside the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, the same feeling than the more luxurious greets you.

New slim HVAC vents, a realigned centre stack for greater driver accessibility and 10.1-inch digital screens are part of the Grand Cherokee’s interior with a 10.25-inch front passenger display.

When seated, the new 16-way adjustable front seats have power lumbar and memory. The higher specification versions offer new front driver and passenger seat back massage functionality.

Engines:

The new Grand Cherokee does not lack in power and performance with the familiar 3.6-litre Pentastar V6, which delivers 210 kW and 344 Nm of torque in all models.

The Jeep also features its familiar Quadra-Trac II 4x4 system, Quadra-Lift air suspension with electronic semi-active damping, which delivers up to 287 mm of ground clearance and 610 mm of water fording.

Spec:

Most of the new features and technology will be standard across all 3 models, and certain features are reserved for different models including a 950-watt 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, which is standard on Overland and Summit Reserve models. There are three wheel-options with signature Jeep geometry and up to 21-inch diameter wheels.

Pricing:

Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6L 4x4 8AT (R1 329 900), Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 3.6L 4x4 8AT (R1 539 900) and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve 3.6L 4x4 8AT (R1 735 900).
