Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is re-entering the growing urban delivery market with the launch of the Vivo Xpress which will be available for sale from February 2026.
What is it?
There has been a noticeable growing demand in the entry delivery vehicle segment in the South Africa market over the past few years. In response, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is reintroducing the Vivo Xpress to capture this expanding market and will be the only locally built model to compete in the A0 City Van segment.
Previously, the Vivo Xpress was offered in 2016, but no successor was developed after the second-generation Vivo launched in 2018. Now, with the rise of e-commerce, large fleet and market demand for Light Duty Vehicles (LDVs) is surging.
The new Vivo Xpress provides secure enclosed storage without the need for a canopy and offers safety options such as Smash & Grab film or Window Guards. The van is easy to load via side and rear doors, accommodating both small and larger cargo efficiently.
Payload an engine:
It has a payload-capacity of 490 kg, which is one of the best in the segment. It will be powered by VW’s 1.4l engine with 63kW output.
Price:
VW Vivo Xpress 1.4l 63kW Aluminium (R279 990).
An all-new double-cab bakkie with a 2.5-litre turbodiesel plug-in hybrid powertrain will find its way to South Africa.
Mazda South Africa has added a new model to its CX-3 range, one of the better selling nameplates of the brand.
In the - dare one says - overcrowded bakkie market in South Africa, there is no slow-down in new bakkies coming to the country to take on the very well-established trio occupying the podium positions.
