BMW iX3 crowned World Car of the Year 2026 as EVs lead the way

Suzuki has launched the Across in South Africa, a C-segment SUV with mild-hybrid technology, positioned for families and urban drivers.
What is it?
The Across is Suzuki’s most advanced SUV locally. It sits in the compact-to-mid-size SUV category, offering practicality, efficiency, and modern driver assistance features.
Exterior:
The design includes LED projector headlamps with DRLs, a trapezoidal grille, and protective cladding. GL models have 17-inch dark grey alloys, while GLX models feature dual-tone machined alloys. The rear has a full-width LED taillamp cluster, roof spoiler, and aluminium-look skid plate. Colour options include single-tone finishes, with GLX offering optional dual-tone paint.

Interior:
The cabin is minimalist and practical, with split-fold rear seats, inductive charging, multiple storage points, and a 10.1-inch infotainment system. GL models use fabric upholstery and include reverse camera, cruise control, and six airbags. GLX adds synthetic leather with copper stitching, ventilated power seats, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, premium audio, and advanced driver assistance systems.
Engine:
Both trims use Suzuki’s 1.5-litre K15C mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 76kW and 137Nm. Features include regenerative braking and start/stop technology. Fuel consumption is 5.3 l/100km. GL offers manual or automatic gearboxes; GLX is automatic only.

Model range:
GL: Fabric seats, reverse camera, rear sensors, cruise control, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, six airbags.
GLX: Adds synthetic leather, ventilated seats, head-up display, Harman Infinity sound, 360º camera, panoramic sunroof, and advanced driver assistance (adaptive cruise, lane keep, and blind spot monitoring).
Prices:
GL 5MT (R349 9000), GL 6AT (R372 900) and the GLX 6AT (R464 900).
