A well-known nameplate is back on local showroom floors in the guise of Opel’s latest Mokka.
The new car boasts an emotional design, signalling the new design direction of the brand.
As part of a revitalised model range, the new Opel Mokka arrives in South Africa hot on the heels of the new Opel Zafira.
Two models of the distinctive Opel Mokka are available: the Mokka Elegance and Mokka GS Line, both powered by the same turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The headlamps of the new Mokka feature Opel’s iconic ‘wing’ design and is modern and elegant in its appearance. Eco LED headlamps standard on the Elegance model, while the GS Line offers the Full-LED Matrix headlamps.
The Opel Mokka’s 1.2 three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine delivers 96 kW and 230 Nm. The claimed fuel consumption is 5.3- and 6.1 l/100 km on the extra-urban and combined cycle respectively. The Rüsselsheim engineering team has worked hard on mass reduction: the new Mokka is up to 120 kg lighter than the previous generation.
Technologies in the Mokka include Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Detection on GS Line models and Adaptive cruise control (also on GS Line models).
All versions of the Mokka are equipped with the latest generation LED lights, ranging from daytime running lights, bearing the Opel signature, to front fog lights. At the rear, the choice to always have lights with LED technology.
Excellent craftsmanship on seating systems is a recognised quality at Opel. With a driver's seat adjustable on six axes as standard, and full leather upholstery available from the GS Line version to give a sporty side to the Mokka.
The new range of infotainment systems ensures perfect connectivity to inform or entertain the driver and passengers of the Mokka.
The Elegance model is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen IntelliLink infotainment system, the multimedia radio combining modern connectivity that allows music playback via USB, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The GS Line offers a bigger 10-inch high-definition IntelliLink colour touchscreen with the addition of built-in navigation.
1.2T Elegance (R469 900) and the 1.2T GS Line (R519 900).
An all-new double-cab bakkie with a 2.5-litre turbodiesel plug-in hybrid powertrain will find its way to South Africa.
Mazda South Africa has added a new model to its CX-3 range, one of the better selling nameplates of the brand.
In the - dare one says - overcrowded bakkie market in South Africa, there is no slow-down in new bakkies coming to the country to take on the very well-established trio occupying the podium positions.
