The ‘All-New Scorpio-N’ from Mahindra showed its face in South Africa as part of the world reveal and will be available locally within the next couple of months.

The new Scorpio-N has been designed to redefine the D-segment SUV category with its design, commanding driving position and well-appointed interior. Moreover, making good on its Authentic SUV promise, it delivers on performance and adventure capabilities alike.

Designed at Pininfarina, Italy and Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS), Mumbai and engineered by the teams at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) near Chennai and Mahindra North American Technical Centre (MNATC) in the USA, and manufactured at the state-of-the-art world-class facility at Chakan, Pune, the All-New Scorpio-N is truly a global product.

Speaking on the occasion, Sachin Arolkar, Head of International Operations, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited said: “We are happy to have simultaneously unveiled the all-new Scorpio-N in South Africa and Nepal alongside India.

“The Scorpio-N is planned for South Africa in the coming months and will proudly carry the new Twin Peaks logo. The new brand identity is in tune with Mahindra’s focus to be the maker of sophisticated and authentic SUVs. It heralds a strategic shift across our SUV portfolio, where we are putting the building blocks in place for a new world with a range of authentic SUVs.”

“Our decision to include South Africa in the global reveal of the Scorpio-N is a clear sign of our commitment to the country as our second home outside of India. Mahindra South Africa is regularly on the list of the fastest growing SUV and bakkie brands in the country, and we look forward to introducing our next-generation models here and welcome more South Africans to the Mahindra family,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa.

Following its local reveal, the Scorpio-N will embark on a comprehensive local testing programme, before coming to showroom floors in 2023.

It is built on a new third-generation body-on-frame platform and is powered by a TGDi mStallion petrol engine with 149 kW and 380 Nm and the mHawk diesel engine with 129 kW and 400 Nm, offered in both 6-speed Manual and Automatic Transmissions, and 4X4 as option.

Mahindra boasts about the new interior where passengers are greeted with top-notch craftmanship – rich coffee-black leatherette upholstery, best-in-class command seating position, centre console encased in robust metal finished dual rails and advanced infotainment system.

The latest generation body-on-frame structure has been optimised with penta-link rear suspension that features the segment-first watt’s link mechanism to offer confident ride and handling attributes.

The vehicle is also designed for all terrains with the 4XPLOR, first-in-class intelligent terrain management technology. With a mere touch, the electric shift-on-the-fly 4Wheel Drive System transforms the Scorpio-N from 2WD mode into 4WD.
