BMW iX3 crowned World Car of the Year 2026 as EVs lead the way
The BMW iX3 has been named World Car of the Year 2026, with the announcement made at the New York International Auto Show on 1 April.

Mercedes-AMG unveiled two high performance versions of the GLC. The GLC 43 4MATIC being the entry-level model and GLC 63 S E Performance being the marque’s first performance hybrid SUV.
What’s new?
The GLC 63 S E AMG says goodbye to the 4.0 V8 as both models have a new AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric exhaust gas turbocharger. Both models are equipped with a suspension system that gives a comfy, sporty driving experience.
Exterior:
The exterior design has numerous AMG design details, which make the GLC AMG stand out, such as the AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical struts, the AMG front apron with flics, sporty air intakes and chrome-plated trim elements.
The GLC 43 4MATIC sits on 19-inch and the GLC 63 S E Performance on 20-inch wheels. The GLC 63 S E Performance Edition 1 comes with bigger wheels and Mercedes-AMG’s exterior colours called graphite grey or high-tech silver magno to better withstand smaller scratch marks.
Interior:
The interior of the GLC AMG is just as sporty as the exterior with a touch of comfort. The AMG seats in the interior are upholstered in Artico man-made leather. The steering wheel is specced in nappa leather. The AMG performance steering is also paired with silver-coloured aluminium gearshift paddles. The two round buttons on the steering wheel allow the driver to select the different dynamic driving functions.
Performance:
At the heart of the new Mercedes-AMG GLC models is the AMG 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine and Mercedes-AMG still holds true with the company’s “One man, One Engine” principle. The engine designated for the GLC 43 4MATIC delivers 310 kW and 500 Nm of torque.
Accelerating from 0 – 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds, the GLC 63 S E Performance is worthy of the AMG badge. It is powered by the same 2.0 litre 4-cylinder engine found in the GLC 43, however the turbocharger in the GLC 63 S is significantly larger and is hybridised with the integrated electric motor driven by the 400-volt high-voltage system. This gives it an output of 500 kW and 1020 Nm of system torque.
The AMG Speedshift MCT (Multi Clutch Transmission) 9G transmission is available in both GLC AMG models. This means a wet start-off clutch replaces the torque converter. It reduces weight and optimises response to accelerator pedal input. It has a Race Start function that ensures optimal acceleration from a standstill.
