Foton South Africa has extended its bakkie-offering in South Africa with the recent launch of two ranges at the top-end of the line-up.
The launch of the V-Series is more than just a vehicle introduction — it’s a statement. It represents Foton’s commitment to South Africa as a key hub in its global expansion strategy, backed by local assembly and an investment in the future of African mobility.

What is it?
Known as the Foton Tunland V-Series, it consists of the V7 and Tunland V9 in both 4x2 and 4x4 variants. The double cab bakkies differ in terms of price, equipment and the suspension set-up with the V7, which embodies practicality and toughness with a leaf-sprung rear suspension making it a first-class load carrier and workhorse. The Tunland V9 has a multi-link rear suspension, offering a more subtle ride for those who require a more refined pose.
Engine:
Under the hood of both ranges lies a 2.0-litre AUCAN turbocharged diesel engine, co-developed with Cummins paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission and a 48V mild-hybrid system, delivering improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions power is 120kW and 450Nm of torque.
Exterior:
With 240mm ground clearance, it excels off the beaten track. The V7 has a very American pick-up look in the font with its double headlight layout. While the V9 has a sportier look with a more aggressive grille and headlight cluster.
Interior:
Both ranges shine with a modern layout, 14.6” infotainment touchscreen with steering controls functionality, synthetic leather seats with electric adjustments, dual-zone climate control and wireless charging, enough interior space for five people.
The bakkies also boast six airbags and a 360° camera system, Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Electronic Stability & Traction Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and an electric parking brake.
The top of range model is the Tunland V9 LTD 4x4 with extra safety and comfort features like Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Jam Recognition, Intelligent Cruise Assist, Lane Centre Control and different driving mode choices.
Prices:
Tunland V7 4x2 VLX (R689 900), Tunland V7 4x4 VLX (R765 900), Tunland V9 4x2 VLX (R725 900) and the Tunland V9 4x4 LTD (R799 900).
