BMW iX3 crowned World Car of the Year 2026 as EVs lead the way

The latest arrival on the South African motoring scene, Changan, says its new Hunter Turbo Diesel bakkies will soon roam our roads.
What is it?
Changan describes the Hunter as a rugged and capable bakkie with a modern design.
Exterior:
The Hunter has bold exterior styling, chrome accents and striking touches like LED headlamps, utility hooks and 18-inch alloys.
Engine:
At its core, lies a 2.0L turbo diesel engine, delivering 110kW and 350Nm of torque through either a smooth 6-speed manual (two-wheel drive) or 6-speed automatic transmission, on the four-wheel drive version.

Interior:
Inside it boasts premium leather seating, a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen and multifunction steering wheel, while tactile console controls and soft-touch finishes elevate the everyday experience.
The Hunter is loaded with driver-focused technology, from keyless entry and start-stop functionality to cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring and traction systems that adapt to the terrain. The four-wheel drive version boasts low range capability and there are rear camera assistance and parking sensors.
Safety:
When it comes to safety, the Hunter has multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist and hill descent control.
Price:
The top-of-the-range 4WD AT version is expected to retail in South Africa considerably below the R600 000 mark, and it’s backed by a 5-Year / 150 000km warranty.
