VWGA appoints Dr Lungile Mashele as Non-Executive Director

The Board of Management of Volkswagen Group Africa (VWGA) has appointed Dr Lungile Mashele as Non-Executive Director, effective 1 May 2026.

VWGA says in a statement Lungile is an accomplished energy economist with over 15 years of experience across the energy value chain, including renewable energy, gas, coal, nuclear and hydro energy projects across the African continent.

She currently serves as an advisor to the Minister of Energy and Electricity, a non-executive director at the National Transmission Company of South Africa (NTCSA), and an Energy and Infrastructure Specialist at the Public Investment Corporation (PIC).

She has dedicated herself to the study of energy and business topics, with a Master's degree in Energy Studies, a BCom degree in Economics and Econometrics, and most recently, a PhD in Engineering Management.

She is the second active non-executive director, joining Yolanda Cuba who has served on the Board since June 2024.
