Cubbi, a new online action platform for dealerships, says its business model is shaking up the dealer landscape.
The company says it is known for the way ordinary South Africans buy and sell pre-owned vehicles, and their next goal is to help dealers safely and securely purchase a wide variety of vehicles while they are on the move.
The Cubbi Auction platform offers vehicles purchased from the public to dealers before they go on sale on the open market, creating more opportunities for dealers to access a wider pool of stock of all ages and mileages.
“We want to change that dynamic and help the industry tap into our vast national buying network of pre-loved cars to support South Africa’s need for quality pre-owned vehicles,” explains Preeban Munian, CEO at Cubbi.
When asked why dealers should consider making use of the Cubbi Auction platform, Preeban says they want to reduce the risk associated with stock procurement as they put every vehicle through a rigorous verification process to ensure all vehicles sold on auction are unencumbered.
“We offer dedicated ground support to help dealers source vehicles efficiently, and unlike most other auction platforms we also give them the opportunity to test drive. Full transparency is non-negotiable as we strive to provide accurate descriptions and full disclosure,” Preeban continues.
Whilst Cubbi strongly encourages its dealers to inspect and test drive the vehicles themselves, they know this is not always possible. For this reason they have a dealer support team to test drive and supply a comprehensive video evaluation upon request.
The auction is once a week on Tuesday between 12:00 and 14:00. Dealers simply register on the dealer website and submit the relevant documentation to activate an account. Dealers are typically verified within 24 hours. In addition, dealers can also make use of the “Make-an-Offer” function online outside the online auction day.
“At Cubbi we believe our relationships with supporting dealers are paramount, which is why we offer a great loyalty programme. The more you buy, the bigger the reward,” concludes Preeban.
Dealerfloor asked Preeban about Cubbi’s expansion plans to which he replied that the focus was on continuous improvement and expanding our capabilities. “We are committed to strategic growth, and we are actively exploring opportunities for expansion. Our goal is to have dealerships in all provinces in the near future.”
It has been reported that the Scandinavian commercial vehicle manufacturer, Volvo Trucks, will significantly scale up local production capabilities with the launch of Euro 6 truck manufacturing in early 2026. The expansion represents a major investment in the company's Durban assembly operations.
