Volvo took a firm step to make the prospect of owning an electric vehicle more attractive with a limited offer on its EVs.
Volvo Car South Africa announced an exciting new limited-time offer that afford local buyers of Volvo electric vehicles (EVs) three complimentary benefits, further reinforcing the brand’s steadfast commitment to delivering value.
Customers qualify for the promotion – which is limited to the last quarter of 2024 – by purchasing any new fully electric Volvo model from a Volvo dealership during the final three months of the year. These buyers are then awarded with the following benefits:
“Volvo is already at the forefront of South Africa’s new-energy vehicle space and accounts for much of the recent growth in the fully electric segment. This new offer is the latest illustration of our commitment to our customers, which will provide the most value to their EV ownership experience,” said Markus Cromwell, Commercial Director at Volvo Car South Africa.
Volvo Car SA’s range of EVs currently includes the new EX30, the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge. The EX30 has already proven exceptionally popular with local buyers. In fact, it is South Africa’s best-selling EV, year to date (at the end of August 2024).
Available in multiple configurations – allowing customers to select powertrain options, battery types and trim levels – the EX30 reinforces Volvo Car SA’s already formidable presence in the local new-energy vehicle space. The equally popular XC40 Recharge is offered in both Single Motor Plus and Twin Motor Ultimate form, while the sleeky-styled C40 Recharge ships standard in Twin Motor Ultimate guise.
Furthermore, the highly anticipated fully electric EX90 flagship is expected to launch locally in early 2025, with the first customer vehicles scheduled to arrive towards the end of the second quarter of next year.
The new EX90 is due to slot in at the top of Volvo Car SA’s exclusively electrified line-up, which comprises mild hybrids, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and full EVs.
While rising fuel prices often trigger spikes in interest around electric vehicles, Volvo Car South Africa believes the real reasons South Africans are starting to consider EVs go far beyond the petrol pump.
MG has opened a new engineering centre in Frankfurt as part of its “in Europe, for Europe” approach. The facility will focus on developing vehicles suited to European conditions, including climate, roads and driving habits. It will work alongside existing teams in the United Kingdom (UK) and London design hub.
Europe’s used electric vehicle (EV) market is experiencing a notable surge as the Iran conflict drives up global oil prices and pushes petrol costs sharply higher across the continent.
