What is it?
ARCFOX is BAIC Group’s premium electric brand, already present in several international markets. Its introduction at Kyalami signals the start of local expansion. The brand’s first model shown in South Africa was the ARCFOX T1, a compact electric SUV aimed at urban drivers. BAIC also revealed the X55 PHEV, combining electric efficiency with petrol engine flexibility, broadening consumer choice in the local market, it claims.
Exterior:
The ARCFOX T1 displayed contemporary styling with sharp lines and a compact SUV profile. BAIC’s X55 PHEV followed the brand’s modern design language, positioned as a practical yet advanced option for South African motorists.
Interior:
ARCFOX emphasised technology integration in the T1. The cabin featured a wraparound digital cockpit, an 8.8‑inch instrument cluster and a 15.6‑inch floating touchscreen. This setup was designed to provide a connected driving experience. BAIC’s X55 PHEV interior highlighted comfort and practicality, aligning with its role as a bridge between conventional and electrified mobility.
Powertrains:
The ARCFOX T1 is fully electric, with specifications for the South African market to be confirmed closer to launch. The X55 PHEV combines an electric drive system with a petrol engine, offering flexibility for drivers who want reduced emissions without range limitations.

Pricing and warranty details for both ARCFOX T1 and BAIC X55 PHEV were not disclosed at the Festival of Motoring. These will be confirmed at the official local launches later in the year.
