Cars.co.za has upgraded its customer experience with the introduction of badges – a set of colour-coded indicators below the price and mileage of a listed vehicle to help customers decide and, for dealers, to help drive purchases.
The badges list whether or not the vehicle for sale is a Great Deal, a Good Deal or a Fair Deal. Notice that there are no negative listings and all of them encourage the browsing buyer to consider the vehicle, regardless of which badge it has.
Behind the scenes, we programmed our system to use advanced algorithms, our deep transaction history and real-time movements in the market to work out where the vehicle fits in and which badge it receives.
Here is how we describe the badges:
Great deal: Based on the current market trends and buyer demands, this is a highly competitive option.
Good deal: Using our information on market trends and similar vehicle listings, this vehicle offers solid overall value.
Fair deal: This vehicle falls within the typical price range for similar vehicles.
To add further value to the customer’s journey on our website and app, and to help drive sales, we have developed two more badges.
Fast Seller: This first badge indicates to customers that a car like this sells really quickly. Our system adds this badge to vehicles with a high click-through rate (meaning that many people click on the listing) and views.
Price Drop Badges: This automatic badge appears next to the price of the vehicle and it shows if the vehicle has dropped in price. This badge shows the percentage with which the price has decreased and it adds a colourful tag to the price to draw the customer’s attention to it.
The new badges are live on the Cars.co.za website and app and it is being promoted on our YouTube channel by our popular presenters and by small inserts in the videos that explain the badge ratings to potential customers.
Please keep in mind that our badges have been developed with great care to help customers feel like they are getting the best possible deal, while also improving the dealer’s experience and throughput on the system.
