Toyota has refined the Land Cruiser 70 Series range with a focus on proven engines and simplified options.
The headline change is the wider availability of the 2.8-litre GD turbodiesel, now offered across more derivatives. Producing 150kW, it delivers 500Nm of torque in automatic form and 450Nm with the manual, ensuring strong performance whether on worksites, long journeys or rugged terrain. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual.
The long-serving 4.5-litre V8 diesel has been discontinued, marking a shift towards smaller and more efficient powertrains. In its place, the line-up continues to feature the 4.0-litre V6 petrol and the 4.2-litre naturally aspirated diesel, both paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The 4.2-litre unit retains shorter service intervals, reflecting its traditional design.
Customers still have three body styles to suit different needs: the Single Cab for heavy-duty work, the Double Cab for versatility, and the Station Wagon for off-road SUV capability.
A highlight of the 2026 update is the inclusion of a standard service plan across the full Land Cruiser 70 Series range. The service plan covers up to 9 services or 90 000km for most derivatives, while the 4.2-litre diesel models benefit from 18 services over 90 000km due to shorter service intervals. The range continues to be backed by a 3-year / 100 000km warranty.

The Land Cruiser 70 Series pricing is:
Land Cruiser 79 Single Cab:
4.0 Petrol 5MT (R840 900), 4.2 Diesel 5MT (R910 600), 2.8 GD-6 Diesel 5MT (R974 300) and the 2.8 GD-6 Diesel 6AT (R1 007 600.
