What is new?
The GR Corolla range now includes an 8-speed Automatic (8AT) variant. This addition broadens the car’s appeal, offering everyday convenience alongside its motorsport-inspired dynamics.
The new gearbox:
Toyota’s GR Direct Automatic Transmission (GR D-AT) is designed for track-focused driving. It delivers rapid, precise shifts, anticipates driver inputs, and comes with paddle shifters, sequential shift functionality, and advanced safety features such as Parking Support Brake and A/T oil temperature monitoring.
Other changes:
Cooling performance has been improved with an ATF cooler, sub-radiator, and airflow ducting. Aerodynamics benefit from the removal of front fog lamps, while rebound springs and revised suspension geometry enhance handling.
Across the range, Torsen limited-slip differentials are now standard, and a tyre pressure monitoring system has been added. Interior refinements include GR gun metallic accents, relocated iMT switch, and upgraded infotainment with blind-spot monitoring and Safe Exit Assist.
Performance and engine specs:
At its core, the GR Corolla retains the 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 210kW and 400Nm. Paired with Toyota’s GR-FOUR all-wheel-drive system, it delivers a top speed of 230km/h. Three driving modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport – ensure versatility, while the triple-exit exhaust underscores its aggressive character.
