Nissan has unveiled the all-new Tekton, a compact SUV that marks a significant step in the company’s global strategy. First introduced in India, the Tekton is scheduled to arrive in South Africa in late 2026, underscoring the country’s importance in Nissan’s regional growth plans.

The Tekton is built on the Renault Duster platform, a foundation known for its durability and practicality. By leveraging this proven base, Nissan aims to deliver a crossover that balances performance, efficiency and everyday usability, while maintaining affordability in competitive markets.
Manufactured in Chennai, India, the Tekton reflects Nissan’s reliance on India as both a domestic growth market and a strategic export hub. The model will be shipped to 50 markets across Africa and the Middle East, reinforcing India’s role in Nissan’s global manufacturing and product strategy.
Design:
Drawing inspiration from the legendary Nissan Patrol, the Tekton carries a bold SUV stance with commanding proportions. It blends heritage styling cues with modern expectations, offering a confident road presence tailored to evolving customer demands in highly competitive SUV segments.
Inside, the Tekton is designed around customer priorities. Features include a spacious cabin, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and dual-zone climate control. Connectivity is powered by Google, integrating Maps, Assistant and Play, while advanced driver assistance systems enhance safety and convenience.
Engines:
The Tekton will be offered with turbocharged petrol engines, including a 1.0-litre and a 1.3-litre option. The latter delivers up to 120kW and 280Nm of torque.
Safety:
Safety remains central to the Tekton’s proposition. Six airbags, reinforced structural integrity and technologies such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Warning are included to meet modern safety expectations.
South African context:
For South Africa, the Tekton’s arrival in late 2026 is significant.
