Nissan says the latest wave of launches from the brand in South Africa supports Nissan’s long-standing commitment to the country, underpinned by more than 60 years of local presence.
With a comprehensive product plan in motion, the company continues to invest in bringing new models to market that meet the evolving needs of South African drivers while supporting the growth of the local automotive industry, according to Maciej Klenkiewicz, Managing Director of Nissan South Africa and Independent Markets Africa (IMA).
The New Model Year X-Trail and limited-edition Magnite Kuro mark Nissan South Africa’s fourth and fifth major releases for 2025. Other new introductions into the local market this year include the rugged PRO-4X Warrior by Premcar and Stealth variants as part of the Navara range, as well as the versatile Magnite Move panel van that is already on the road.
Nissan says the New Model Year X-Trail brings executive-tier comfort, family-centred practicality and advanced technology, while the Kuro offers a sense of exclusivity and prestige to the Magnite range.
Nissan Magnite Kuro:
Based on the N-Connect trim, the limited-edition Kuro is launching a select number of units across South Africa and swaps chrome and silver finishes for black accents across the exterior, including roof rails, skid plates, grille inserts and alloy wheels. A black Kuro badge completes the look and makes the compact SUV a standout on the road.
The interior continues the jet-black styling with a dark roof liner, gloss-black dashboard and steering wheel inserts, black fabric trims, synthetic-leather seats and a wireless-charging pad.
The Magnite Kuro is powered by Nissan’s HRA0 1.0-litre turbocharged engine (74kW/152Nm), paired with an X-Tronic CVT.
Practical features include a tight 5-metre turning radius for easy manoeuvring in traffic, cruise control for relaxed highway driving, hill start assist for stability on inclines, Wireless Mobile phone Charger and LED Headlamps. Safety systems such as ABS with EBD and vehicle dynamic control come standard, helping drivers manage sudden stops, rough roads and sharp curves.
The Magnite Kuro will be in showrooms later this month at the introductory price of R352 900.
Nissan X-Trail:
Built to serve as both a family SUV and an all-terrain performer, the New Model Year Nissan X-Trail lands on South Africa’s shores as a versatile family vehicle with two advanced features and strong performance.
The X-Trail is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 135kW and 244Nm, paired with a CVT transmission. Ground clearance is 211mm, and it has a braked towing capacity of 2 000kg, and it has independent suspension front and rear.
The Visia and Acenta grades come with an 8” touchscreen infotainment system and a five-person seating capacity, with an ample 585ℓ luggage space. The Acenta is equipped with 18” alloy wheels, synthetic leather, dual zone air conditioning and all-round view monitor.
The Acenta Plus comes equipped with a 12.3” A-IVI touchscreen display with navigation, a head-up display, and the standard drive mode selector. Additional exciting features include a terrain mode ideal for navigating more challenging surfaces, 19” alloy wheels and a seven-seat arrangement, accommodating larger families while still offering flexible cargo space for longer journeys.
