Volkswagen announced that it would be launching its most powerful SUV, the Tiguan R.
The group says that the Tiguan R combines the dynamic performance of a sports car with the practicality of an SUV.
What’s New?
The New Tiguan R is bolstered by a host of new technologies. It also has a more aggressive design and improved driving dynamics.
You can tell the Tiguan R from its siblings by looking for the more aggressive R Design bumpers, matt aluminium covers on the side mirrors and glossy rear diffuser. A panoramic sunroof comes standard.
The design of the Tiguan R includes bumpers in ‘R’ design to give it a more aggressive front as well as exterior mirror covers in matt chrome and a high gloss rear diffuser. A panoramic sunroof is standard.

When it comes to performance, the new Tiguan R does not disappoint. Output is rated at 235kW for a 0-100km/h run of 5.1 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited at 250km/h.
Under the hood is the VW Group’s well-known 2.0 litre TSI engine. The engine powers all four wheels through its DSG dual-clutch transmission. The 4-cylinder engine provides a maximum torque output of 400Nm from as low as 2 100 r/min and maintains this high torque at a constant level up to 5 350 r/min.
Volkswagen has added torque vectoring – a system that dynamically shifts power between wheels and between the front and back of the vehicle. This is similar to the system found on the Golf R.
The Tiguan R comes with six different paint options as well as a new 20” Misano alloy wheel, Park Distance Control (front and rear) and a Lights and Vision Package that further accentuates the exterior appeal. It comes with a multiple array of optional extras you can choose from, including
