Mercedes-AMG recently unveiled the second generation of the AMG GT series with a whole new look, which is even sportier than before.
What’s new?
For the first time, the Mercedes-AMG GT is a 4-seater with the rear seats being able to accommodate passengers who are 1.5 meters tall. The Mercedes-AMG GT also brings its power to the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC and all-wheel drive.
Exterior:
The Mercedes-AMG has a completely redesigned exterior with a wider radiator grille and newly designed headlights with standard digital light underline. The daytime running lights have been redesigned with the characteristic three “light dots” light signet, which make the AMG GT more aggressive in its performance design.
The front of the Mercedes-AMG GT is sportier with a lower air intake and power domes on the bonnet. It sits on 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels as standard but alternatively can be specced with 21-inch wheels.
Interior:
The interior design of the AMG GT Coupé emphasises the sporty exterior of the car, the materials and workmanship clearly show the attention to detail given to the car. From the cockpit design to the centre console, it is primarily driver focused.
For the first time, the rear passengers can enjoy the performance of the car. The optional 2+2 seats offer plenty of space in the interior, which increase the functionality of the car and are suitable for people who are 1.5 meters tall. The large “Easy Pack” tailgate includes a handsfree access function making it easier to load and offload items.
It has an 11.9-inch multimedia touchscreen with the latest MBUX infotainment system and offers extensive AMG-specific content in five display styles. These items also include AMG Performance or AMG Track Pace from its Exclusive menu.
Performance:
The Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé houses a 4-lite V8 biturbo engine with two twin-scroll turbochargers unleashing 430 kW and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 315 km/h.
The 9G transmission can be shifted manually with the aluminium shift paddles, which speed up the shifts. The AMG GT Coupé is aerodynamically more efficient with the help of a two-part, active air control system called Airpanel. This system reduces the air resistance and directs air towards the underbody reducing front lift.
Range:
There will be two models – the AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ and the AMG GT 55 4MATIC+. The price and availability are yet to be confirmed.
Mercedes-AMG’s GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is the fastest accelerating AMG model, and it is now locally available.
