Mercedes-Benz South Africa has introduced the new C 63 S E PERFORMANCE and a Special F1 Edition to South Africa.

What’s new?

Brand-new and super-fast. When it comes to AMG, we know the manufacturer does not fool around, and although the traditional V8 sound might be missing, the world’s most powerful 2-litre turbo petrol-engine purrs contentedly under the hood.

Exterior:

Form follows function: the design of the new C 63 S E PERFORMANCE differs from the Mercedes‑Benz C‑Class in its more muscular proportions.

The front end is 50 mm longer and the front wings are wider. Overall, the exterior dimensions differ considerably from those of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. In terms of length, the Saloon measures an extra 83 mm.

A new distinguishing feature, exclusive to the C 63 S E PERFORMANCE, is the narrow air outlet in the centre of the bonnet, which transitions into two power bulges. For the first time on a Mercedes‑AMG production model, a round badge with a black AMG crest replaces the Mercedes star with a laurel wreath on the bonnet.

Hallmark elements continue to be the AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical struts and the AMG front apron in jet-wing design.

The C 63 S E PERFORMANCE runs on AMG light-alloy wheels and 19-inch mixed tyres as standard.

Interior:

In the interior, AMG sports seats with a special upholstery layout and a distinctive stitching pattern are used. There are also many individual choices available for the interior. Exclusive colours and various Nappa leather upholstery with embossed AMG crests in the front head restraints emphasise either the sporty or the luxurious side of the C 63 S E PERFORMANCE.

The MBUX infotainment system includes various AMG- and hybrid-specific displays and functions. These include the displays in the instrument cluster, on the multimedia central display in portrait orientation in the centre console and the optional head-up display.

The AMG-specific Supersport style offers the option of displaying various contents via a vertical menu structure. These include a menu with hybrid-specific temperatures or a set-up menu that displays the current settings for the suspension or transmission.

Engine:

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol-engine is combined with an electric motor, a high-performance battery and fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.

The system output of 500 kW (350 kW + 150 kW) and the maximum system torque of 1 020 Nm enable an impressive driving performance: the Saloon and Estate accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 3.4 seconds. Acceleration only ends at an electronically governed 280 km/h.

The 150-kW electric motor is positioned at the rear axle, where it is integrated with an electrically shifted two-speed transmission and the electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential in a compact electric drive unit.

Pricing:

The C63 S E Performance costs R2 476 800.

  • The "F1 Edition" is available for the Saloon and Estate for one year from the start of sales. The exclusive MANUFAKTUR alpine grey uni paint finish is a striking distinguishing feature. It is combined with foiling on the vehicle flanks consisting of the AMG logo and colour gradient from grey to black. Red trim lines on the sides and front and rear aprons add further colour accents. The 20-inch AMG forged wheels in a 5-twin-spoke design are painted matt black. The red rim flanges provide an attractive contrast and follow the colour scheme of the wheels of the Official FIA F1 Medical Car™ from Mercedes-AMG.
