The model has been unveiled globally and is currently under study for possible introduction to the South African market.

The TZ is built on a dedicated battery electric platform that allows for a spacious interior. Measuring 5 100mm in length with a wheelbase of 3 050mm, it offers seating for three rows and a cargo capacity ranging from 290litres to 2 017litres.

A towing capacity of up to 1 500kg is also available under European specification. The cabin design emphasises quietness and comfort, supported by advanced sound management, ambient lighting and premium audio systems. Sustainable materials such as forged bamboo and recycled aluminium have been incorporated into the interior, reflecting Lexus’s circular development approach.

Performance is delivered through a dual motor all-wheel drive system producing 300kW. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and offers an estimated driving range of up to 640km, depending on market specification. Charging capability includes rapid DC charging, with 10 to 80 per cent achievable in approximately 35 minutes.

Design elements include a sculpted spindle body, geometric lighting and aerodynamic detailing, which contribute to both efficiency and road presence. Lexus states that the TZ achieves class leading aerodynamic performance among its SUV line up. Features such as “Rear Comfort” mode and Interactive Manual Drive are intended to balance passenger relaxation with driver engagement.

Chief Engineer Takeshi Miyaura described the TZ as “a refined mobile space that brings smiles to drivers and families alike.” The model represents Lexus’s vision of premium mobility, combining electrified performance with practical versatility. Further details on timing and market introduction will be confirmed once decisions on local availability are finalised.
