Latest Ranger version arrives with a Tremor

There is no shortage of special editions of Ford’s latest Ford Ranger with the addition of the Tremor to the line-up.

What’s New?

The Tremor has all of the enhanced off-road capabilities shared with the Wildtrak X, it is based on the XLT series, which makes it a more affordable option that is ideally suited to the most adventurous exploits and hard-working environments.

Ranger Tremor is equipped with the same suspension upgrades as the recently launched Wildtrak X, including specially developed Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers, 24 mm higher ground clearance and 30 mm wider track.

Exterior:

The Ranger Tremor is visually distinguished from the XLT series through the addition of a black honeycomb off-road front grille that is equipped with the same LED auxiliary driving lights as the Wildtrak X, along with Bolder Grey exterior details for the lower sections of the front bumper and H-bar, fender vents, mirror caps, door handles and rear bumper.

This is complemented by extended wheel arch mouldings in Bolder Grey that frame 265/70 R17 all-terrain General Grabber AT3 tyres with white lettering, mounted on 17-inch Asphalt Black machine-faced alloy rims.

There are also ‘Tremor’ badges on the rear tailgate and bold ‘Tremor’ decals on the load box sides. Another special detail is the use of the black Ford Oval on the front grille.

Standard fitment of a tough steel bash plate, steel underbody protection for the engine, transfer case and fuel tank are standard, as well as two front tow hooks, cast aluminium side steps and the long-leg tubular sports bar.

Interior:

The seats are trimmed in water-resistant black vinyl with Medium Dark Urban Grey stitching. The front seats incorporate the Tremor logo embroidered in orange on the seatbacks and provide six-way adjustment. In place of traditional carpets, it features vinyl flooring that makes cleaning the interior easy.

The standard fitment of the roof-mounted auxiliary switches allows seamless fitment of the powered accessories that are part and parcel of 4x4 overlanding.

As with the Wildtrak X, the Tremor is equipped with the Off-road SYNC Screen with the 360-degree camera system.

Engine:

The Ranger Tremor Double Cab uses the same 154 kW/500 Nm 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine and full-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system as the Wildtrak X mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Tremor also brings another pioneering new driver assist feature to the Ranger line-up, in the form of Pro Trailer Backup Assist with Trailer Reverse Guidance which is being introduced as standard on the Tremor, Wildtrak X, the upcoming Ranger Platinum and the Ranger Raptor.

Trail Control is also standard on the Ranger Tremor. The driver simply selects a set speed below 32 km/h when driving off-road, and the vehicle will manage its acceleration and braking while the driver concentrates on steering through difficult terrain.
