Jetour T-Series goes Plug-In Hybrid in SA

Jetour has quickly established itself in South Africa since its arrival in 2024, with the Dashing and X70 Plus paving the way for the rugged T-Series.

Now the brand has taken its first step into electrification with the launch of the T1 i-DM and T2 i-DM, plug-in hybrid SUVs aimed at families and urban drivers who want efficiency without sacrificing capability.

What is it?

The T-Series i-DM models sit in the mid-size SUV segment, offering a blend of practicality and adventure-ready design. They are pitched at buyers who want the reassurance of petrol power combined with the benefits of electric driving. With sales of the combustion T-Series already strong, Jetour is positioning these hybrids as a logical next step for customers seeking lower running costs and a more sustainable option.

Powertrain:

The T1 i-DM and T2 i-DM both use a 1.5‑litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a dedicated hybrid battery system. The petrol engine produces around 115kW and 220Nm, while the electric motor adds significant extra output, bringing the combined system power to about 265kW.

The battery enables pure electric driving for everyday use, while the combined range stretches beyond 1 200km. Charging is designed to be convenient, with rapid DC capability allowing a 30 to 80 per cent top-up in under half an hour. Fuel consumption is impressively low, quoted by Jetour at just 1.1 litres per 100 km, making these SUVs among the most efficient in their class.

Interior:

Inside, the T-Series i-DM continues Jetour’s focus on technology and comfort. Dual-screen displays dominate the dashboard, offering seamless connectivity and infotainment. Wireless charging, ambient lighting and a premium audio system add to the sense of refinement. The cabin is designed to be spacious and versatile, reflecting Jetour’s “Travel+” philosophy of combining family comfort with modern convenience.

Exterior:

The exterior styling builds on the bold, boxy look of the existing T1 and T2. Rugged lines are complemented by signature lighting, premium wheels and a panoramic glass sunroof. The design is recognisably Jetour, carrying forward the visual identity of the range while signalling its new electrified capability.

Two models:

The T1 i-DM is the more compact option, aimed at buyers who want a versatile SUV with a slightly lower entry price. The T2 i-DM offers greater space and presence, making it better suited to families or those who value additional comfort and capacity. Both share the same hybrid technology, but the T2’s larger size and positioning account for its higher price.

Price and warranty:

The T1 i-DM is priced from R689 900, while the larger T2 i-DM starts at R779 900. Both are available through more than 55 dealerships nationwide. Jetour backs the models with a comprehensive warranty and support network, aiming to reassure buyers that its hybrid technology is as dependable as its conventional offerings.
