JAC Motors South Africa has introduced two new derivatives to its T9 bakkie range, the Hunter Black Edition and Super Lux Black Edition. These additions form part of the company’s Decade campaign, marking nearly ten years of operations in the country.
What is it?
The new models are based on the T9 Super Lux 4x4 and add distinctive styling and specification. The Hunter Black Edition produces 144 kW and 487 Nm, while the Super Lux Black Edition delivers 125 kW and 444 Nm. Both are aimed at customers seeking a premium bakkie with enhanced off‑road capability.
Exterior:
The Black Edition is immediately recognisable by its black radiator grille, matt black 18‑inch alloy wheels, roof rails, exterior mirrors, door handles and trim. The Hunter version adds branded decals on the sides and tailgate, along with standard nudge and style bars, a tonneau cover and tow bar.
Interior:
Inside, the models feature a black leather‑enhanced cabin designed for durability and easy cleaning. The Hunter Black Edition includes branded headrests and heavy‑duty floor carpets, further distinguishing it from the rest of the line‑up.
Engines:
Both models use JAC’s 2.0‑litre four‑cylinder turbo‑diesel engine with direct injection, common‑rail technology, intercooler and Electrical Variable Geometry Turbocharger. Power is delivered through a ZF eight‑speed automatic transmission with Sport, Normal, Eco and Snow driving modes. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 7.8 L/100 km, JAC claims. Off‑road performance is supported by low‑range functionality and a rear electronic differential lock. Braked towing capacity is 3 500 kg.
Prices and warranty:
The T9 2.0L CTi 4x2 Lux is priced at R549 900, the 2.0L CTi 4x4 Lux at R609 900, the 2.0L CTi 4x2 Super Lux at R599 900, the 2.0L CTi 4x2 Hunter at R629 900, the 2.0L CTi 4x4 Black Edition at R629 900 and the 2.0L CTi 4x4 Hunter Black Edition at R689 900.
The range is offered with a five‑year/200 000 km manufacturer’s warranty, a seven‑year/100 000 km service plan and five years of roadside assistance. The first service is scheduled at 10,000 km, followed by intervals of 15 000 km.
