The iCAUR V23 has been introduced to the South African market as a compact electric SUV with retro-inspired styling. Positioned below the 03T in the brand’s line-up, it is offered in two versions, a 2WD and an AWD, each with distinct performance and specification levels.
What is it?
The V23 is a battery-powered SUV designed to broaden iCAUR’s local offering. It combines compact dimensions with upright proportions and styling cues drawn from classic off-roaders. The 2WD employs a single rear-mounted motor, while the AWD uses a dual-motor system. Both are aimed at providing accessible electric mobility with practical packaging and a strong equipment list.
Exterior:
The V23’s design is characterised by squared-off proportions, a flat bonnet, vertical sides and pronounced wheel arches. Circular headlamp surrounds, slim daytime running lights and Lego-inspired tail lamps add to its distinctive look.
Alloy wheels differ between models: 19-inch for the 2WD and 21-inch for the AWD. LED lighting is standard across the range, with colour choices including Khaki White, Carbon Crystal Black, Cyan Grey, Starlight Silver, Texture Green and Warm Orange.
Interior:
Despite its compact length of 4 220 mm, the V23 offers a spacious cabin thanks to a 2 735 mm wheelbase. It seats five occupants and provides 372litres of luggage space, expanding to 994litres with the rear seats folded. Standard features include leather upholstery, electrically adjustable ventilated front seats, climate control and a 15.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The AWD adds heated front seats.
Powertrain:
The 2WD produces 100kW and 180Nm from a 59.93kWh battery, achieving a range of 360 km and a top speed of 140 km/h. The AWD increases output to 155kW and 292Nm, with a larger 81.8kWh battery extending range to 430 km. Acceleration differs significantly: 11 seconds for the 2WD versus 7.5 seconds for the AWD, according to the manufacturer. Charging from 20–80% takes 36 minutes for the 2WD and 42 minutes for the AWD using DC fast charging.
Difference in specification levels:
While both derivatives share the same overall design and core equipment, the AWD gains additional driver assistance systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keep Assist and Blind Spot Detection. It also features a 540-degree surround view camera compared with the reverse camera on the 2WD.
Price and warranty:
The V23 2WD is priced at R519 900, while the AWD costs R669 900. Both are supported by an eight-year/200 000km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160 000km battery warranty for the first owner, and a five-year/100 000km service plan. Roadside assistance is included for eight years/200 000km.
