Hyundai EXTER Cargo arrives in South Africa

What is it?

The EXTER Cargo is a new derivative based on the Hyundai EXTER SUV. It has been adapted into a two-seater, five-door panel van with an enclosed rear load area. The model is aimed at customers needing an affordable and practical delivery vehicle, with increased ground clearance to handle gravel and rural roads.

Exterior:

The EXTER Cargo retains the compact footprint of the SUV but is distinguished by its panel van configuration. The rear section is enclosed to provide a flat load space, while the raised ground clearance enhances usability on uneven surfaces. Its dimensions make it suitable for urban manoeuvrability, while the styling remains consistent with the EXTER family, Hyundai claims.

Interior:

The cabin is configured for two occupants, with the rear converted into a dedicated cargo area. This layout provides space for freight while maintaining comfort for the driver and passenger. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, electric windows, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and remote central locking. Safety features extend to six airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.

Engine and gearbox:

Power is supplied by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 61 kW and 114 Nm. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a manual transmission. Average fuel consumption is listed at 5.7 litres per 100 km.

Price:

The EXTER Cargo is offered in a single specification, priced at R247 392 excluding VAT or R284 500 including VAT. As a homologated light-commercial vehicle, qualifying business customers can reclaim VAT.
