The new model joining the line-up is the Corolla Cross GR-S Hybrid following in the footsteps of the Corolla Cross GR Sport launched last year. The Hybrid sibling is the latest model to receive the GR-S touch, which is the more sporty-orientated models of the brand.
The GR-S package brings sharpened aesthetics, while under-the-skin fettling delivers improved driving dynamics. The Hybrid model remains in strong demand, with consumers recognising the benefits of Toyota’s acclaimed hybrid system, refinement, smooth acceleration, fuel economy and near-silent EV-mode operation.
What’s new?
From the outside, the package includes a revised front grille design in gloss black and a gloss black lower apron with the signature 'GR Mesh'. There are vertical air ducts, which incorporate compact fog lamp units and a strong horizontal cross bar and large Toyota insignia.
Black exterior mirrors paired with a black roof and black roof rails craft a sporty bi-tone design.
At the rear, you will find a black roof spoiler, black tailgate trim and blacked-out rear diffuser, and the package is completed by a GR badge affixed to the rear.
And to round off the outside picture are new 18" black alloy wheels shod with 225/50R18 tyres.
Three exterior colours are offered for the new addition, namely Arizona Red Bi-Tone, Chromium Silver Bi-Tone and Glacier White Bi-Tone.
In the interior, the ergonomics of the Corolla Cross cabin are retained, while adding a dose of GR-inspired flair.
The Cross GR-S Hybrid interior features stylish black leather trim throughout with GR embossing on the front headrests, red contrast stitching with red perforation, a red accent stripe on the instrument panel together with piano black surface detailing and a chunky 3-spoke steering wheel with red stitching and piano black inserts.
In terms of ride and handling, there are new shock absorbers and revised coil springs as well as new brushless-motor power steering module (EPS) to deliver more responsive handling, steering wheel feedback and cornering prowess.
