The new S-Class is now available in South Africa.
“The launch of every new S-Class represents an important milestone for Mercedes- Benz. Time and again, the S-Class offers state-of-the-art innovations in all aspects, from comfort and elegance to safety and innovation, not only for our products, but for the industry as a whole,” says Selvin Govender, Vice President for Marketing and Sales at Mercedes-Benz Cars.
Selvin added: “One common theme is systematic digitalisation, both during the development process and in the vehicle itself. Intelligent networking of different systems gives our customers tangible added value. This, coupled with impeccable craftsmanship and superior value perception, makes the S-Class the pinnacle of luxury."
The latest generation S-Class models are equipped standard with the latest cutting-edge MBUX operating system running on a 12.8-inch OLED central display, plus a 12.3-inch digital driver display.
With 31 speakers, two of them being Frontbass versions, the Burmester® high-end 4D surround sound system has eight exciters. Two exciters are integrated into the backrest of each seat. Direct reproduction of the sound resonance in the seats adds another level to the three-dimensional listening experience – 4D sound. The perceived intensity of the sound can be individually adjusted for each seat with a total output of 1 750 watts.
The two models launched are both six cylinders, one diesel (S 350d) and the other a petrol-hybrid (S 500 4MATIC).
S 350d (210 kW/600 Nm) – R2 330 000
S 500 4MATIC (320 kW + 16 kW/520 Nm + 250 Nm) – R2 492 000.
And if the S-Class does not deliver enough luxury, you can always look at the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
With a two tone paint finish and an 18 cm longer wheelbase compared to the long variant of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach represents the ultimate in sophistication like never before, a compilation of the finest quality materials, phenomenal craftsmanship, incomparable comfort and state-of-the-art technology that elevates your journey to a new level of driving.
The interior of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is based on the completely new interior design of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The large areas of trim on the front seats are a new feature in the Mercedes-Maybach. High-quality wood surrounds encase the rear of the front seat backrests, giving the impression of generous lounge seats.
This highest form of the vehicle’s comfort and inventive beauty represents the affluence of its owners. The Mercedes-Maybach heralds a longer and more supreme shape, extended wheelbases and wider rear doors that accentuate the vehicle’s regality, all creating maximum spaciousness for its owner’s maximum comfort.
The range consists of two models, a V8 petrol hybrid (S 580 4MATIC) and a V12 petrol (S 680 4MATIC).
S 580 4MATIC (370 kW + 15 kW/700 Nm + 200 Nm) - R3 507 000.
S 680 4MATIC (450 kW/900 Nm) - R4 454 000.
