What’s new?

Compared to the Ford Territory of many years ago, which we were familiar with in South Africa, it is completely new, in fact the two versions are light years apart. The new Territory boasts a commanding presence, craftsmanship and a spacious, flexible interior that tech-savvy customers expect, says Ford.

Exterior:

The Territory’s front-end is framed coast-to-coast by the integrated grille and distinctive LED daytime-running lights, creating a signature light effect. The corners, with integrated main lamps, enhance the all-new Territory’s purposeful look.

From front to back, a prominent shoulder line enhances the Territory’s design language. Innovative LED lighting technology is used for the headlamps and 3D taillights.

From the side, the Territory has a sculpted body with attractive 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels across the range.

Interior:

At the centre of the new Territory’s interior is a panoramic display that integrates a 12.3-inch high-definition digital instrument cluster on the Titanium model, or a seven-inch TFT cluster with primary analogue gauges on the Ambiente and Trend.

Across all models, a 12.3-inch landscapeorientated infotainment touchscreen is nestled into the instrument panel. It can be operated by the user’s finger or a rotary controller on the centre console and helps to declutter the cabin by moving many vehicle controls onto the screen.

The double-deck console design incorporates convenient wireless phone charging on the Trend and Titanium models. There are 20 different storage spaces stashed around the inside of Territory while the boot offers up to 448 litres of storage space.

Safety:

On the safety front, all Territory models are equipped with Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control, Emergency Brake Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Hill Launch Assist, Hill Descent Control and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. A total of six airbags are provided, comprising dual front side and curtain airbags.

Engine:

The Territory is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine that delivers 138 kW and 318 Nm.

The EcoBoost engine, which has Auto Start Stop across the range, is matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Drive is delivered to the front wheels with four Selectable Drive Modes available, comprising Normal, Eco, Sport or Mountain to optimise power, torque and fuel efficiency according to the driving conditions. This is complemented by handy driver assist technologies such as Hill Launch Assist and Hill Descent Control for optimal control on steep gradients.

Price:

The indicative pricing for the Territory will start from R610 000 including VAT.
