Enviro Automotive expanded its battery-electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio with the debut of the new SRM T3 EV 1.6-tonne forward-cab bakkie. SRM (Shineray Reefer Motors) is a Chinese automotive brand.
Enviro Automotive's battery-electric range of bakkies, panel vans, compact SUVs and trucks—featuring the SRM, DFSK and Duyan brands—is available through 18 DFSK dealerships nationwide, along with its dedicated Enviro Automotive dealership located at the company's head office in Pretoria.
What is it?
The SRM T3 EV offers a class-leading electric propulsion system that delivers fundamental advantages, including zero emissions and instant torque, making it ideal for urban deliveries and load-hauling, according to the company.
Drivetrain:
Its synchronous electric motor produces 60 kW and 220 Nm and drives the rear wheels. It features a 53.58 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a driving range of up to 300 km per charge.
Charging the SRM T3 EV is easy because it supports both AC and DC charging standards. A full charge takes just three hours with an 11 kW AC charger, while a 55 kW DC charger delivers a 20% to 80% charge in about 35 minutes, reducing downtime and boosting business productivity.
Exterior:
The SRM T3 EV measures 5 190 mm (L) x 1 770 mm (W) x 1 995 mm (H) and supports a 3 400 mm wheelbase. It offers the biggest load box in the LCV segment, measuring 3 100 mm (L) x 1 680 mm (W) x 370 mm (H), providing 5.2 m² of cargo space.
This design maximises its 1 625 kg payload capacity while maintaining manoeuvrability on tight city streets. The EV bakkie has various configuration options, including a flatbed, cabin box or high box to suit.
Interior:
Modern driver comforts in the SRM T3 EV include a flat-bottom steering wheel for extra legroom. Standard features are air-conditioning and a 9-inch multimedia system with Bluetooth, DAB, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, offering navigation and hands-free communication for safer, more convenient driving.
Under the skin:
The SRM T3 EV features advanced driver-assistance systems and a reinforced body structure, ensuring enhanced protection and a safe driving experience. It has 195/70 R15 LT tyres and McPherson independent front suspension and 6-leaf spring rear suspension at the back.
It features front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, along with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution). Its safety credentials include dual SRS airbags, EPS (Electric Power Steering) with Auto Return and a reverse camera with parking sensors.
Price:
The official retail price of the SRM T3 EV with drop sides is R669 900 (VAT excluded), which includes a 3-year/60 000 km warranty and service plan. The traction battery has a 6-year/360 000 km warranty. Service intervals are every 12 months/20 000 km.
