What is different?
Available in the same grades as the standard Tiggo Cross (Comfort and Elite), the Tiggo Cross HEV gives buyers more choice than before and brings hybrid motoring to more people thanks to its attainable price tag.
Engine:
Powering the Tiggo Cross HEV is a 1.5-litre engine which develops 71kW and 118Nm of torque. The addition of an electric motor and 1.83kWh battery pack results in combined power outputs of 150kW and 310Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels via the marque’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
The Tiggo Cross HEV returns just 5.4L/100km, making it exceptionally efficient. Furthermore, it boasts a range of 1 000km, according to Chery.
Daily traffic and rush-hour congestion are silent fuel wasters. The Tiggo Cross HEV’s powertrain seamlessly switches between four operating modes — Pure Electric, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid and Energy Recovery. During urban low-speed cruising, the system prioritises pure electric mode to eliminate fuel consumption during vehicle acceleration from standstill.
Exterior:
While the Comfort HEV and Elite HEV ride on model-specific 17-inch alloy wheels, their specifications closely align with those of the standard Comfort and Elite variants.
The stylish Tiggo Cross HEV receives automatic LED headlights and LED daytime running lights, along with a sporty tailgate spoiler, chrome-plated dual exhaust finishers and body-coloured exterior finishes. The Elite variant sports red-painted brake callipers, along with an electrically operated sunroof.
Interior:
Step inside and the Tiggo Cross HEV continues to impress with its strong standard specification levels. The soft-touch dashboard is complemented by the black leather upholstery, which, on the Elite trim, extends to the multi-function steering wheel.
Ambient lighting is standard across both trims, but the Elite adds luxuries such as a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with a power-operated lumbar support. Both models boast automatic wipers and two-zone automatic climate control. Heated front seats are available on the Elite HEV.
The interior of the Tiggo Cross HEV is dominated by dual 10.25-inch screens, a digital driver’s display and an infotainment touchscreen. The last-mentioned provides access to the comprehensive features available in the Tiggo Cross, including Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a four-speaker sound system. The Elite receives a six-speaker sound system, but both trims gain a wireless mobile phone charger.
Safety:
The vehicle is equipped with the latest safety features, including Traction Control, Emergency Brake Assist, Hill Descent Control, Brake Assist, and dual front, front side and side-curtain airbags. The Elite variant adds a front inter-seat airbag to the safety suite. While the Comfort HEV receives a rear-view camera (with dynamic guidelines), the Elite comes equipped with the following driver assistance features:
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Brake System (AEB), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Intelligent High Beam Control (IHC), Lane Change Assistance (LCA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), Traffic congestion assistance (TJA) and a 360 HD Panoramic camera system.
Price:
Tiggo Cross HEV starts at R439 900 for the Comfort and R469,900 for the Elite variant.
