JAC Motors South Africa has introduced the T8 2.0L CTi Comfort 4x2 double cab and at R349 900 (VAT included), making it the lowest-priced double cab currently available in the country.
What is it?
The model is aimed at entrepreneurs and fleet operators who require a practical vehicle with passenger capacity, fuel efficiency and versatility, JAC says. The T8 Comfort joins the broader T-Series line-up, which has been present in South Africa for nearly a decade, and is manufactured in China for export to more than 40 countries.
Engine:
The T8 Comfort is powered by a 2.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel engine with an intercooler and Electric Variable Geometry Turbocharger. This unit produces 104kW and 320Nm. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
Interior and exterior:
The T8 Comfort has a large honeycomb grille, LED headlamps, daytime running lights, fog lamps, bold wheel arches and 18-inch steel wheels fitted with 265/60 R18 tyres.
Inside, the cab is designed for comfort with hydraulic power steering, cruise control, air conditioning and electric windows. The steering wheel is leather-bound and multifunctional, while the seats are finished in leatherette.
A multi-information display, Bluetooth connectivity, radio/MP3 player and six speakers are standard, with USB and 12V sockets housed in the centre console.
Specifications:
The T8 Comfort is built on a ladder-frame chassis with a double-wishbone front suspension and leaf-spring rear suspension. It has a payload capacity of 900 kg. The braked towing capacity is 2 000 kg.
Safety equipment includes driver and passenger airbags, traction control, vehicle dynamics control, electronic stability control, hill-start hold, ABS with EBD, brake assist and tyre pressure monitoring. Additional features include rear park sensors, LED tail lamps, child locks and remote central locking.
Price:
The T8 2.0L CTi Comfort is priced at R349 900. It comes with a 5-year/100 000 km warranty and roadside assistance, with service intervals every 15 000 km and the first service due at 10 000 km. Other models in the line-up include the T8 2.0L CTi 4×2 Lux at R399 900 and the T8 2.0L CTi 4×4 Lux at R449 900, both supplied with a 5-year/200 000 km warranty and a 5-year/100 000 km service plan.
