Mazda Southern Africa has refreshed its long-standing Mazda2 range for 2026, introducing styling updates, added technology and improved value for the brands entry level line-up.
What is it?
The model continues to serve the B light hatchback segment, offering a more comprehensively equipped line-up that enhances everyday driving. The update ensures that even the entry-level edition benefits from features once reserved for higher trims, making the Mazda2 a more competitive option in its class.
Exterior:
The exterior design has been given subtle but noticeable changes. The Active edition now carries 15-inch two-tone steel wheels and distinctive yellow accents on the front and rear grille.
Higher trims add alloy wheels, with the Individual derivative standing out through 16-inch machined alloys and a black-and-red treatment that lends a sportier character. The overall look is sharper and more expressive, ensuring the Mazda2 remains visually appealing in a crowded market.
Interior:
Inside, the Mazda2 has been updated with coloured panel finishes that add personality to the cabin. The Active edition introduces a 7-inch display with MZD Connect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bringing modern connectivity to the entry point of the range.
The Individual derivative elevates the interior further with automatic climate control, wireless charging, a Head-Up Display and a more premium black-and-red finish.
Equipment and different models:
The range is structured around three derivatives. The Mazda2 1.5 Active MT offers enhanced infotainment, connectivity, power fold mirrors and distinctive styling elements.
The Mazda2 1.5 Dynamic AT builds on this with alloy wheels, a six-speed automatic transmission, additional airbags, cruise control and leather-wrapped steering elements.
At the top, the Mazda2 1.5 Individual AT adds smart keyless entry, reverse camera, rear parking sensors, auto paddle transmission switches, wireless charging and a Head-Up Display.
Standard features across the range include LED headlamps, push start ignition, electronic stability control, ISOFIX anchors and dual front airbags.
Engines:
All models are powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 85kW and 148Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission depending on the derivative.
Prices:
The Mazda2 1.5 Active MT is priced at (R307 400). The Mazda2 1.5 Dynamic AT comes in at (R357 400). The Mazda2 1.5 Individual AT is offered at (R397 900).
All models are backed by a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty, a three-year service plan and five years of roadside assistance.
