JHB876 - Passenger Vehicle Logistics & Technical Stockyard Specialist - OEM Level

Our client is looking for an experienced and qualified Logistics and Technical Stockyard Specialist to join the team. The Vehicle Storage Yard Supervisor oversees the full operational workflow from port arrival to yard intake, secure storage, fitments, quality control, and final dispatch. The supervisor ensures all work meets OEM standards, deadlines, safety protocols, and SOPs, while leading the team effectively.
Responsibilities:
Port Operations Coordination and Planning
- Port-to-Yard Vehicle Receiving process control
- Coordinate inbound schedules with port, transporters, and internal teams
- Verify VINs and conduct arrival inspections for damage or discrepancies
- Report on all exceptions to management and OEM representatives
- Liaise with all stakeholders on imports and manage all customs inquiries
Yard Storage Management
- Yard Operations & Storage Management, including preservation
- Ensure security, proper handling, and safe vehicle movement
- Maintain accurate yard mapping and vehicle traceability at all times
- Enforce housekeeping and safety standards
- Coordinating vehicle services and repairs to reduce delays on deliveries
- Maintaining a good record of battery failures and their causes
- Performing 3G regularly to ensure compliance with storage preservation rules and guidelines
Value-Add Activities Planning and Control
- Fitments & Technical Value-Added Services
- Report keeping, review, and approval of damage claims
- Plan and oversee all required fitments, including homologation items, data dotting, and rust treatment
- Escalating technical problems and support troubleshooting when required to do so
- Lead and supervise yard teams, including fitment technicians
- Address issues promptly and ensure problem-solving on the floor
Compliance & Reporting
- Enforce compliance with SOPs, OEM requirements, and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate records of stock, damages, fitments, and dispatches
- Submit daily and weekly operational reports
Continuous Improvement
- Suggest improvements to reduce turnaround times and improve quality
- Implement best practices for yard flow, fitment efficiency, and safety
- Stock control & Reconciliations
Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- 3–5 years' experience in automotive logistics or yard operations in the motor industry
- Experience supervising operational teams
- Technical experience or qualification in automotive mechanical/electrical work will be a strong advantage (components, fitments, basic mechanical)
- Ability to inspect and identify technical faults or incorrect installations
- Knowledge of accessory installations, wiring, and vehicle handling
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities (verbal & written)
- Good planning & organisational abilities
- Attention to detail & accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
- Problem-solving and decision- making skills
- Health & Safety regulations
- Valid driver's license (essential)
- Motor Industry experience essential
