JHB 902 - Debtors & Creditors Clerk - Pre-Owned Car Dealership

A family-owned used vehicle dealership committed to delivering quality vehicles, exceptional service, and value to their customers, who pride themselves on honesty, professionalism, and building lasting relationships through a customer-focused approach requests a Debtors& Creditors Clerk to join their company which consists of 4 dealerships.
The Debtors and Creditors Clerk is responsible for managing accounts receivable and payable functions within the dealership, ensuring accurate financial records, timely collections, supplier payments, and effective reconciliation of accounts. Previous experience in a motor dealership environment is essential whilst used vehicle dealership experience, is highly advantageous.
Remuneration: R18 000 – R25 000 CTC (Negotiable) depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
Debtors (Accounts Receivable)
- Process and allocate customer payments accurately
- Maintain debtor accounts and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly
- Follow up on outstanding accounts and collections
- Generate age analysis reports and monitor overdue accounts
- Reconcile debtor accounts monthly
- Resolve customer account queries efficiently
- Ensure compliance with company credit policies
- Prepare and submit debtor reports to management
Creditors (Accounts Payable)
- Capture supplier invoices accurately and timeously
- Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documents
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare creditor payment schedules
- Process electronic payments and ensure payment deadlines are met
- Maintain accurate supplier records and filing systems
- Handle supplier queries professionally
- Assist with month-end creditor reconciliations
Dealership Administration
- Assist with vehicle stock-related documentation
- Verify vehicle purchase and sales paperwork where required
- Process trade-in and vehicle settlement documentation
- Support the finance department with month-end procedures
- Ensure compliance with dealership and manufacturer policies
- Maintain accurate filing and record-keeping systems
- Assist auditors during financial audits
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or related field advantageous
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Debtors and Creditors role within a car dealership environment
- Previous experience within a motor dealership environment essential!
- Used vehicle dealership experience will be advantageous
- Experience working with high-volume transactions
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Experience using accounting software and dealership systems such as:
- Automate / Kerridge / Evolve / Drive / BMG / Sage or similar accounting platforms
