JHB 862 - Passenger Vehicle Storeman (Repair Centre)

Our client is looking for an experienced Parts Storeman to join the team. This role is ideally suited to an individual who demonstrates strong organisational and administrative capabilities, with a meticulous approach to detail and accuracy in all aspects of parts handling and inventory control.

In addition, the role requires a hands-on individual who is willing and able to take initiative in establishing, implementing, and improving processes and procedures within the repair centre, where such structures are currently underdeveloped. A proactive mindset, sound problem-solving ability, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of housekeeping and stock integrity will be essential to succeed in this role.

- Receiving & Quality Control: Inspect incoming deliveries for damage or discrepancies against purchase orders and delivery notes
- Inventory & Storage: Organise the parts storeroom systematically. Maintain accurate stock records, manage minimum/maximum levels, and conduct routine cycle counts and physical stock-takes
- Issuing Parts: Package and issue specific parts kits to panel beaters and spray painters corresponding with open job cards. Issues, receives and controls issued special tools daily
- Returns & Warranties: Identify incorrect, defective, or surplus parts, and process the necessary returns and credit notes with suppliers
- Implementation of processes and procedures: Take initiative in establishing, implementing, and improving processes and procedures within the repair centre, where such structures are currently underdeveloped.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on storekeeping or parts experience specifically within the panel beating or automotive body repair industry
- Solid understanding of automotive mechanics, terminology, vehicle body parts, panels, clips and paint consumables and the difference between OEM and aftermarket parts
- Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
- Familiarity with inventory software or automotive management programs like TMS Teamwork
- A valid driver's license (required to collect parts or drive customer vehicles)
Essential competencies:
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must act as a critical bridge between suppliers, estimators, and panel beaters. To notify the team immediately of backorders or damaged deliveries
- Must be diligent about handling hazardous materials like thinners or paints
- Must have the ability to think on their feet when incorrect parts or consumables are delivered, quickly pivoting to source replacements without derailing the Workshop’s workflow
- Show unwavering focus and ability to stand firm on stock control and policies
