Martina Biene, Chairperson and Managing Director of VWGA, who was among the excited attendees commented on this day: “At VWGA, we appreciate the hard work and dedication of every employee. The Family Day was our way of expressing gratitude not only for workers’ commitment but also for the support of their families, who contribute to our collective success. It’s a day to celebrate our shared achievements and strengthen the bonds that help us thrive together."

The Family Day, which was previously also hosted at the Kariega Plant in 2018 and 2014, gave employees an opportunity to show their loved-ones where they work, providing insight into the environments where they spend a significant portion of their time. In addition to viewing various department displays within the plant, attendees were treated to a wide range of fun with family-friendly activities. A similar event was also held in October for Gauteng-based employees.

For the younger guests, the Kariega event offered a variety of entertaining and interactive activities, including face painting, jumping castles and a specially designated kids’ zone, ensuring that the children had as much fun as the adults.

The lively atmosphere continued throughout the day with a diverse line-up of live performances. Among the performers were local favourites like Just Labs, Amazing Dancers, Olutheran and Steph the Hypnotist. The entertainment was brought to an exciting climax by the headlining acts, DJ Super Man and Sdudla noma1000, who kept spirits high.

A particularly thrilling highlight of the day was the Gymkhana area, where professional driving instructors from the Volkswagen Driving Academy and Volkswagen motorsport driver Jonathan Mogotsi put the locally manufactured Polo Vivo GT through its paces. The high-speed, high-energy action left attendees in awe, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many.
