Vehicle industry mourns the passing of Corné Venter

Well-known motor industry executive, Corné Venter, passed away on 29 March. Corné was the Head of Retail and Rental at Motus.

He joined Imperial in 2005 as Financial Director of Premier Motor Holdings. He previously held the position of Managing Director at Premier Motor Holdings, Porter Motor Group, and Imperial Commercials.

Corné was also a trustee of the Imperial Motus Pension and Provident Fund and the President of the Southern African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA).

Motus says in a statement it is with great sadness and sorrow that they learned of the passing of their colleague, Corné.

“Corné started his career within the Retail division as a Franchise Finance Director in 2005 and through his steadfast tenacity, commitment and vision, he earned the admiration of a network of colleagues. As a leader in the Retail and Car Rental industry, he exemplified the Motus values and ensured a lasting legacy, leaving a positive impact on all his colleagues at Motus.

“On behalf of Motus, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to Corne’s family and loved ones and ask you please to keep Sasje, Corne’s wife; and his children in your thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult and sorrowful time.

“We ask that you please respect their privacy as they mourn their beloved husband and father,” says the statement from Motus.

Naamsa, the automotive business council, also reacted to Corné’s passing. “It is with a deep sense of sadness that we share the sad news of the untimely passing of a colleague and an industry giant, Corné Venter.

“Many of us have worked with Corné in advancing the interests of our respective businesses and of course our industry. Naamsa sends its deepest sympathies and condolences to his family and to the entire Motus Group. May the memories shared with Corné comfort us during this time of bereavement. May his Soul rest in eternal peace.”

  • A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, March 31 at the NG Church Tygerpoort, 51 Henry Road, Shere.
