The TVS brand of motorcycles will soon be available in South Africa.
The brand is well-known in India, where the company also manufactures smaller BMW motorcycles (like the GS310, N310 and RR310) under contract.
According to ETG Logistics, the company that is also bringing Force Motors to the country, it has completed the homologation process. It is canvassing for dealers.
The Indian motorcycle manufacturer is the third largest in its homeland with annual sales of three million units. TVS Motor Company is also the second largest two-wheeler exporter in India with exports to over 60 countries.
“Although we have a large range of motorcycles, we will pay special attention to the growing commercial sectors for delivery bikes, one of the few sectors with growth locally. We will be positioning ourselves between the Japanese and the Chinese bikes with our quality and price position, which will be a strong advantage to buyers,” says Hans Greyling, Brand Head of TVS at ETG Logistics.
“On the commercial side, we will focus on our ranges between 125 and 300 cc, where there is a lot of activity and scope for expansion,” he says.
The models TVS will target, will include – when you look at the commuting market – the TVS Apache 310cc RR, TVS Apache 200cc RTR and the TVS 125cc Raider.
On the Scooter side, it is the TVS Ntorq 125cc Standard and Racing Edition and Commercial Units include the TVS HLX 150cc Trak and TVS HLX 125cc while the 3-Wheelers category will see the TVS King Kargo (Commercial with loadbin) and the TVS King Delux (Passenger Transporter).
