Kia’s Tasman bakkie arrives in South Africa
Kia has taken a bold step into one of South Africa’s most competitive automotive segments with the launch of the Tasman, its first-ever double cab bakkie.

Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), a partner of Grain SA, has shown a large range of vehicles at the Nampo Harvest Day.
In line with this, festival goers experience the offerings from Toyota, Lexus and Hino in Toyota Avenue. Among others, the bespoke vehicle stand showcases some of South Africa’s best-loved SUVs comprising a comprehensive array of Land Cruiser models, including the LC70 2.8 GD-6, LC 300 GR Sport and popular Prado variants, as well as the Hilux GR-S III.
For petrol heads, the exhilarating GR Yaris with new 8-speed Sport Direct Shift Auto Transmission also made its public debut. Hero vehicles, Lexus LX 700h and the recently launched Lexus GX SE and Overtrail are on display.
This year, Nampo guests once again have an opportunity to experience the exhilarating Toyota Urban Trax, an off-road experience that attracts over 300 enthusiasts daily. This year’s line-up includes the Fortuner GR-S, the Hilux Double Cab 4x4 48V and the extraordinary, Lexus GX. Lexus’s new off-road focused Overtrail sub-brand can be seen on both the LX700h and GX.
True to the Toyota Way of doing things, sub-brands, Toyota Financial Services (TFS), Toyota Insurance (TIMSA), Kinto and Conversions and Accessories have exciting activations in store for festival goers. The Toyota merchandise store also offers a wide range of gear from GR and Land Cruiser. At Hino, guests can take advantage of the Hino 700 complimentary service plan and the Nampo 300 816 with a complimentary drop side body special currently on offer.
Volkswagen Group Africa (VWGA) has reached another major milestone with the production of the 500 000th unit of the current Polo for the export market.
Nissan South Africa has agreed to sell its Rosslyn production facility after 60 years of operation. The plant, which produced models such as the 1400 ‘Champ’ bakkie, NP200 and Navara, was acquired by Chery SA. The Chinese automaker has sold over 80,000 vehicles locally since 2021 and is now strengthening its African presence.
